In 2018, we announced the launch of the Fresenius Medical Care Foundation (the Foundation), with a commitment to raising awareness of and decreasing the risk for chronic kidney disease (CKD).
We have spent the past year looking at the many opportunities available to provide support across the CKD community to ensure that we found the best initiatives and partnerships to fulfill our Foundation’s mission. We are excited to announce that the Foundation’s first step will focus on raising awareness of kidney disease and igniting the advancement of life-saving solutions.
Our research shows that the best way to raise awareness of CKD is through the emotional and compelling stories of patients looking for a transplant. Our goal will be to focus our initial investments on making sure that everyone who needs a kidney, and is able to receive one, has the option of transplant.
Not only will we make investments in proven programs that educate patients and donors about transplantation, we will also support innovative, first-of-their-kind initiatives that will simplify the process of linking living donors and recipients to each other.
In the coming weeks, we will announce two exciting non-profit partnerships that will support our mission for the Foundation. April is Donate Life Awareness Month and you can expect to see additional developments as we begin to share this good news with industry partners and vendors about the exciting opportunities we have ahead.
We are deeply grateful to you, our initial donors, whose resources helped advance this important work. Your ongoing support is essential to our success, which is why we are sharing our early 2019 plans to help you identify ways to get involved. We are excited to embark on this journey with you and are committed to keeping you informed along the way.
Thank you again for your incredible support.
