FLUID MANAGEMENT

CLiC Device

Providing Real-Time, Continuous Information to Help Achieve a More Effective Dialysis Treatment

Overview

The CLiC™ device is used with the 2008T machine to non-invasively measure hematocrit, percent change in blood volume and oxygen saturation in real time for application in the treatment of dialysis patients with the intended purpose of providing a more effective treatment for both the dialysis patient and the clinician. Based on the data that the monitor provides, the clinician/nurse, under physician direction, intervenes (i.e., increases or decreases the rate at which fluid is removed from the blood) in order to remove the maximum amount of fluid from the dialysis patient without the patient experiencing the common complications of dialysis which include nausea, cramping and vomiting.

Profiles

The CLiC device offers easy-to-interpret patient profiles that can help the clinician improve the accuracy of treatment assessment and intervention during hemodialysis. By monitoring blood volume percent changes, caregivers can adjust treatment as necessary to maximize fluid removal and prevent common symptoms of dialysis, such as nausea, vomiting and cramping.

An "A" profile indicates that the patient's plasma refill rate is occurring at the same or a greater rate than ultrafiltration. This profile suggests that the ultrafiltration rate might be increased without immediate risk of intradialytic symptoms.

A "B" profile is a gradual slope that has been targeted to find the best compromise between a high ultrafiltration rate and the prevention of intradialytic symptoms. The ideal slope is not a fixed percentage of change in BV and will vary from patient to patient.

A "C" profile is represented by a steep slope, which indicates a rapid decrease in blood volume and bears a higher risk for intradialytic symptoms such as lightheadedness, nausea, vomiting, cramping or hypotension.

The Crit-Line profile boundary guidance is designed to deliver clear visual markers of key volume rates designed to provide accurate, real-time data to help guide ultrafiltration decisions. Visualizing the patient’s rate of blood volume reduction has never been easier.1,2,3,4

  • Together, the top line (set at -3%/hr) and the bottom line (-6.5%/hr up to -15%), help to visually represent data related to key threshold rates that have been shown to impact mortality and  morbidity outcomes.
  • Manual calculations performed chairside are no longer needed.
  • Activate or deactivate boundary guidance any time during the treatment by pressing the Boundary Lines button.

CLiC Device

The CLiC device is a fluid management monitoring tool that incorporates photo-optical technology to non-invasively measure absolute hematocrit and continuous oxygen saturation. In addition, the CLiC device calculates the percent change in the dialysis patient's intravascular blood volume and oxygen saturation. The auto-scaling screen displays simultaneous graphic output of percent change in blood volume and oxygen saturation and or blood pressure versus time as well as alphanumeric output of hematacrit, oxygen saturation and percent change in blood volume.

Blood Chambers

The Crit-Line® blood chamber is a sterile, single-use, disposable, optical cuvette designed for use with the CLiC device during acute and chronic hemodialysis therapy to non-invasively measure hematocrit, percent change in blood volume and oxygen saturation. The blood chamber is connected between the arterial bloodline and the dialyzer within the extracorporeal circuit during the hemodialysis treatment.

Individually packaged and pre-sterilized disposable blood chambers for use with the CLiC device. Luer-Lock attachment between arterial blood line and the dialyzer. Single-use only, disposable.

Packaged 36 per box or 288 per case.
Part Number CL10041021

CLiC blood chamber + Combiset bloodline

The CombiSet SMARTECH Bloodline consists of a CombiSet Bloodline with an integrated CLiC blood chamber.  As a result, only one connection is required (i.e., to the dialyzer) instead of two connections. One simple connection is designed to reduce the potential for misthreadings and blood leaks. One product means there's more efficient inventory control and less to store.

CombiSet SMARTECH comes in cases of 24.
