WALTHAM, MASS. – Fresenius Medical Care North America (FMCNA), the nation’s leading renal care company, announces a company-wide national team in support of the National Kidney Foundation’s (NKF) annual Kidney Walk, the nation’s largest fundraiser to fight kidney disease. By bringing together the collective power of Fresenius Medical Care employee volunteers under one National Team, the company enhances its ability to make a greater social impact on the broader kidney community.
“We are proud of our longstanding relationship with the National Kidney Foundation and are pleased to grow our support for their important efforts in the fight against kidney disease,” said Bill Valle, Chief Executive Officer of Fresenius Medical Care North America. “By aligning our volunteers across our family of companies, and tapping into the same culture of caring that drives our mission, we can make a greater social impact for the benefit of the broader kidney community.”
Krystn Kuckelman, NKF’s Vice President for Event Development, joined Valle in making the announcement at an FMCNA employee event, where nearly 1,000 FMCNA employee volunteers assembled NKF care packages for patients. Since 2012, nearly 11,000 walkers from Fresenius Medical Care-affiliated teams have raised nearly $900,000 for Kidney Walk. With a 2017 Kidney Walk fundraising goal of $250,000—the largest ever by a National Team—FMCNA intends to surpass the million dollar mark in terms of total funds raised to date.
The Kidney Walk is the nation’s largest fundraiser to fight kidney disease. Held in nearly 100 communities, more than 75,000 walkers join NKF to raise over $8 million to help kidney patients and their families each year. More than 80 cents of every dollar donated directly supports NKF programs and services. FMCNA joins a group of eight National Teams that encourage Kidney Walk fundraising and participation across multiple locations nationwide.
“We are so proud to welcome Fresenius Medical Care North America as a new National Team for Kidney Walk and honor them for setting the Walk’s highest fundraising goal ever,” said Kevin Longino, CEO, National Kidney Foundation and a kidney transplant patient. “Through their ongoing commitment to Kidney Walk, FMCNA’s support helps us deliver the highest quality education, programs and services to all those affected by kidney disease in local communities nationwide.”
